What is FETC?
- FETC, a division of 1105 Media Inc., is one of the largest, most successful conferences in the United States devoted to educational technology. The conference program is designed so educators and administrators have an opportunity to learn how to integrate different technologies across the curriculum–from kindergarten to college–while being exposed to the latest hardware, software and successful strategies on student technology use. FETC is designed for teachers, principals and deans, district administrators, curriculum designers, media specialists, technology directors and various other educators.
When and where is FETC?
- The conference will take place Wednesday, Jan. 13, through Friday, Jan. 15, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
Who attends FETC?
- FETC attracts teachers, principals, deans, district administrators, curriculum designers, media specialists, technology directors and various other educators.
How did FETC begin?
- This year is FETC’s 30th anniversary conference. The annual event began in 1981 when a small group of Florida teachers and administrators gathered to learn more about emerging technologies and how they could be used in the classroom to improve instruction.
Why attend FETC 2010?
- A panel of distinguished speakers from across the country will share their knowledge and experience with thousands of attendees. Kicking off FETC's prominent line of presenters is keynote speaker Ed Begley, Jr., actor and environmentalist known for his current Planet Green series, “Living With Ed!” who will speak about the importance of integrating environmentally-friendly programs into every aspect of life, including the classroom.
- New this year is VerAttend, FETC’s official program attendance verification system. It allows attendees to track attendance for keynotes, concurrent sessions and ticketed workshops, which can then be made available to professional development directors or education districts for continuing education credits.
- Also new this year is a “Brown-Bag and Pre-Keynote Session” featuring Hall Davidson, Leslie Fisher and John Kuglin. These industry leaders will present the latest edtech tools during this 90-minute session.
- More than 200 concurrent sessions will be offered, which will focus on integrating current and emerging technologies, safety and security, social networking/collaboration, and sustainability into the curriculum.
- Nearly 70 professional development workshops will provide training opportunities through full- and half-day lectures and hands-on workshops given by local and national experts. Registration is required and additional fees apply.
- More than 500 companies will fill over 275,000-square-feet of exhibit space, providing attendees an opportunity to preview and purchase the latest educational technology hardware and software to enhance teaching and learning at all levels.
- Explore the latest in assistive devices, software and peripherals in the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System’s (FDLRS) Assistive Technology Hands-on Lab.
